Reports & Research

The AICPA needs CPA volunteers to participate in two-day standard setting panels. These panels will convene in downtown Chicago during the weeks of June 23 and July 14, 2003.

The AICPA is now forming a set of panels to help set passing standards for the revised CPA Examination. The series of two-day operational standard setting sessions require qualified CPA volunteers to participate in the sessions (one panel for each of the proposed four CPA Examination sections).

The schedule of panels is:

  • June 23-24    Auditing & Attestation

  • June 26-27    Business Environment & Concepts

  • July 14-15    Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • July 17-18    Regulation

Participant Requirements

  • Participation will require a two-day time commitment.

  • Volunteers should be CPAs with 3-8 years of experience, and have supervised new CPAs within the past 12 months.

  • The panels will be carefully selected to comprise CPAs representing a cross-section of CPA professionals in terms of firm size, region of country, sex, ethnicity, and other important demographics.

  • To avoid potential conflicts, panelists may not be affiliated with CPA Exam preparation and review programs.

In addition to the basic eligibility requirements, the types of activities that you spend time in will also determine eligibility for each particular panel.

CPE Credit

The AICPA will offer CPE credit for each contact hour. In the past, this credit has been accepted toward the AICPA membership requirement and most jurisdictions have honored this CPE credit toward license renewal. Panelists seeking CPE credit for serving on the standard setting panel should confirm whether it meets their jurisdiction's requirements.
