Academic Survey re: Computer-based CPA Exam
The AICPA, on behalf of the Education Task Force, has conducted research on the impact of the computer-based CPA Examination on accounting educators and educational institutions across the country. The study was conducted from May - June 2002 in two-parts: an online survey among a sample of 679 accounting department faculty and administrators; and a telephone survey including 150 in-depth telephone interviews among accounting department faculty and administrators.
The aim of the study was to:
- Understand the degree to which accounting faculty and accounting department administrators are aware of the planned changes to the Uniform CPA Exam.
- Evaluate the degree to which accounting programs at colleges and universities believe they are ready to participate in a computerized accounting exam.
- Assess the use of computers and online resources among accounting students in participating schools.
- Evaluate awareness of accounting faculty and administrators of plans to pre-test the Uniform CPA Exam at colleges and universities and assess their willingness to participate.
